I joined the service in 2002 on a trial membership and tried booking a car rental. The service was awful; one of their reps rented a pickup truck for me instead of a passenger car on my trip. I only found that out when I got to the rental counter on my vacation.
After that, I decided to complain and cancel my membership. I thought it was cancelled and received no mail or other offers from them for 2 years BUT they still charged my credit card in 12 for $79.99!
I called again and they said that my membership wasn't cancelled and that was my renewal fee. I called the 800-548-1116 number to investigate and they said that my account would be cancelled AND that I would be credited $79.99 in the next 1 or 2 billing cycles.
I'm not so sure they'll actually keep their promise, so, like other users on this site, I'm waiting to see if they credit me. Otherwise, I'm putting my credit card company on alert because they're usually good about disputing charges.
