Tile Of Luxury Malignant Crook

After contacting Ashley Neal at tileofluxury.com we received samples of available tiles. We picked a 6.5x6.5x0.75 inch cast terracotta tile and settled on a price for 1000 sf of these tiles with Ashley Neal.

We agreed to purchase 1000 sf of a 6.5x6.5x0.75 inch cast terra cotta tiles: the same style we selected from the sample sent. We paid for these tiles by check (big mistake) because he would not accept a credit card. We paid to have the tiles shipped to our building site. We held up our end of the deal.

Tile of Luxury cashed our check immediately. They delayed shipment repeatedly (without notice) and finally
shipped almost 2 weeks after cashing our check. To take payment before shipping is obviously unprofessional but it only gets worse. Ashley Neal did not fulfill his part of the deal.

We received tiles in boxes that were disintegrating. Our GC stated he had never seen such amateurish packing. It took a while to sort out what had happened but it was very clear from the beginning that we did not receive either the quantity or quality of tiles that we were told would be shipped.

We actually received two different styles of tiles totaling only ~650 sf: 390sf of the agreed upon tiles and 261sf of an incompatible tile. The additional two tile types cannot be used together because they are of different thickness (0.75 in and 1 in). The 261sf of tiles that were packed with our tiles is of a vastly inferior quality (~5.75x~5.75x~1 sawn tiles that were not even cut squarely).

We repeatedly sought to an explanation for the missing tiles. Our GC counted the tiles and estimated the square footage for us. We counted the tiles ourselves. We did this as objectively as possible. We measured a sampling of the tiles for dimensions and also measured their weight. We counted the tiles by hand. We also used the shipped weight (obtained from the shipping company) to estimate the number of tiles that were actually shipped. All of these measures show that less than 700 sf of mixed, incompatible tiles were shipped. We paid for 1000 sf of a single style of tile. Ashley Neal and Tile of Luxury did not fulfill their part of the deal. They were not even close.

Ashley Neal was pleasant and agreeable before he cashed our check. From that time onwards he was belligerent and threatening. Amongst his virulent emails, he offered to send us 120 sf of a third type of tile (hexagonal) at no charge. Although this is a tacit recognition of his having incompletely met the obligations of our agreement, we had no use for a third type of tile that is incompatible with the other styles.in fact, since we have no use for the tiles he mixed in with the ones we agreed to purchase, we offered to pack these sawn tiles so he could ship them back to his site but he wouldnt.

We tried repeatedly to have Ashley Neal deal with this as an honest man. We were willing to accept the missing portion of the 6.5x6.5x0.075 inch tiles. He said he didnt have any more. We asked him to refund to us the proportional amount of what we paid (~61%) for tiles we did not receive. He replied with insults and threats.

He even threatened to try to soil our reputation on line if we were to report him to the better business bureau and to the complaint. Frankly, Ashley Neal seems mentally unbalanced.

It is clear that Tile of Luxury is a scam. It is also clear to us that we will not get our money back.

Be warned.
