Raviv Faukshner Contractor took a deposit of $10,000 from me and my wife, did no work, and refuses to return the money after we cancelled the job

Skylyr Service was hired to perform construction on the first house my wife and I purchased. We hired Skylyr services represented by Raviv Fokshner (who is the president) on March 11th. We provided him with a $10,000 deposit which was cahsed on March 13th. Through the month of March we reached out to Mr. Fokshner but never received any conrete replies nor did we receive a start date. As of March 26th Mr. Fokshner of Skylyr Services stopped responding to us. As of that date we stopped contacting Skylyr services. We waited until April 16th to see if we would hear back from him and we did not. As of April 16th we cancelled the contract and requested our money back.

We terminated our contract, as we were entitled to do, on April 16 because we had not received any of the services that were promised in the agreement. For instance:
- There was no communication to us from Skylr services about filing of plans from time of deposit till time of cancellation
- There was no communication to us from Skylr services about start date from time of deposit till time of cancellation
- There was no communication to us from Skylr services about what we need to do from time of deposit till time of cancellation
- No construction or demolition work began and no timeline was given to us
- Text messages were not returned on various occasions
o March 16th, Adele sent a text asking what materials we needed to buy and to let Skylr services know we had a meeting with IKEA to discuss the kitchenno response from Skylr Services
o March 26th Adele asked for an update. Skylr services responded with I will call you in 30 minutes. There was no follow up call or text from Skylr services.
O March 26th Josh asked for an update at 9:40am and 7:30pm but there was no response from Skylr Services
o March 27th Adele informed Skylr services that we had canceled our appointment with IKEA due to lack of response from Skylr services
o We did not speak with Skylr services again until time of cancellation on April 16th

Since April 16 - - nearly 5 months - - my wife and I have tried to get our depsoit back. Skylyr services made various representations to me that my deposit will be returned. Unfortuantely not one promise has come to fruition.

SInce our last coversation, we have also reported Skylyr services and Raviv Fokshner to the NY BBB and he has not replied to their inquiries either.
