Pat Murphy of AAHHH Comfort Spas called us about buying our hot tub / spa from a craigslist posting. He offered us $1000 based on the year & model of the spa & asked us not to sell it & he would call us the first part of the following week to make arrangements to pay us & pick it up. He called us on a tuesday & said he would send "his workers" that have been with him a long time to pick it up & they would pay us $1000 cash.
When the workers arrived they paid my wife $1000 cash & went into our backyard to take it apart to move it. One of the workers came back to our door & told my wife the hot tub in fact was not working properly & showed her how a part worked... How would she or I know, we don't know anything about spas.
The worker said he needed $300 back to repair the part, so she gave him $300 cash back & changed the receipt from $1000 to $700. We called Pat Murphy during this exchange, but he wasn't answering his phone, nor did he call us back until much later & after his workers had left.
Later that day Pat Murphy called us to ask if the workers paid us $800 rather than the $1000 he agreed to pay us. We told Pat Murphy the story & he said they said they paid us $800 cash so we scanned the receipt in & emailed it to him. He said that he would send us a check for the $300 because he agreed to pay us $1000 & he is a man of his word. We emailed him our address to send us a check.
We have sent him text messages & emails asking when we would receive our check & have not heard back from him. We had another buyer that wanted the spa for $1000 & he had the cash to pay us, but we told him we had already agreed to sell it to Pat Murphy. It seemed to us that his "long time workers" run a scam on homeowners regularly & his worker is running a scam on Pat Murphy... Some poetic justice here!!! Don't do business with Pat Murphy, he will RIPYOUOFF!
