I bought a white 7 inch Pandigital Novel eReader from Office Depot for my wife in August. The reader looked very nice, but it didn't operate very fast or effeciently. Finally it went "black screen" and we couldn't get it to even boot up. I had purchased an extended warranty with Office Depot, and so I call ed to ask for help. They referred me to the "manufacturers" help line. And after a long and tedious exchange, I was able to finally get an RMA number, and I sent it off for a "replacement". I got an email that stated that, once the item was received at the shipping address, a new one would be at my door in 3 day (IF the item was in stock). After 2 weks I call ed to see where I stood, and I wa sinformed that, indeed, the item had been received... But there were none in stock, so I would have a 6-8 week wait.
My thoughts are these: Office Depot should stop selling extended warranties since they do nothing to earn the money that they take from the customer. I did all of the leg work, all of the holding on the phone (hours), all of the negotiations and, now, all of the waiting.
I asked a representative at Office Depot if I could have a refund on the money I spent on the warranty, and told ME to call and reestablish the waaranty on the new eReader, if and when I ever have a new one. Wow! What does Office Depot actually DO for the money you give them to "warranty" an item that they sell?
