I hired him to work at my home. He was suppose to insulate and sheet rock the walls to my shop. One day we cut into the wall to add a door and to our surprise, he insulated every other panel and used thin tin strips to support the walls between the 8 ft metal studs. The wall is very weak. Then he nicely textured and painted the wall. He was to build 2 room additions. He put the metal track on top of existing cement, the track did not fit flush, so for the past 3 years we have been trying to stop the water from pouring in. Not to mention the cement was not level, so the doors do not close firmly, lots of drafts and bugs entering from the gaps. The insulation was also inadequate these 2 rooms also. He was suppose to add additional outlets, 2 porch lights that were never installed. He was suppose to install an outlet for the stove, 240 to the mail electrical panel, instead his electrician spliced it into the 220 dryer and did not tell anyone. One day I got a shock off the dryer called an electrician and when he put his tester to the outlet he got a huge jolt. He said that we were very lucky that the house did not burn down or someone was not severly injured or killed by this dangerous work.
During the construction of the room additions I told him he had to make sure he sealed the rooms, that the smallest hole the rats would find, work at it and evenually enter the house. That's exactly what happened, he left a small opening the rats worked at it, got inside chewed through the sheet rock, so part of the sheet rock in the ceiling had to be replaced. He was suppose to fix the leak in the roof, replace the plywood that had dry rot and put new tar paper and shingles. He put new plywood on top of the old plywood that had dry rot, put new tar paper and new shingles, the roof leaked so a new roof had to be installed. When the roof was replaced the insulation had to be replaced from the rats chewing it up and the smell due to the entry from the room addition that was not sealed. He was suppose to build 2 one car garages. I gave him money for the materials and later he dropped off material. He asked for the remainder to start the work. Two weeks after I gave him the money, he said that the material was wrong, took it back and that was then end of that, the garages were never built.
This guy is tricky, the work looks good on the outside, but behind the pretty exterior is very bad work. He also gains your trust, you think he is a good guy with his smoothe talk, but be careful, it could happen to you. I filed a complaint with the contractors board, they fined him saying that the DA did not want to file, but when I asked the DA they said there is no record of the complaint. I tried filing a police report for fraud, they are to busy for this. Now this guy is laughing at me, telling everyone I can't touch him he's above the law. I know this guy has done this to other people, if more people would come forward maybe the DA will take the case.
