Ripoff customer service non-exsisting keep your money for bad merchandise

We have been having a lot of trouble with Rhodes Furniture over the last several years. It began November. We ordered a sectional and sofa table. $3,000, which is quite a lot It was delivered February.

After the men had left and we got the sectional where we wanted it, I noticed that the back of one of the recliners was not right. It bugged me for a while. Finally, in March or April I called the store. They set up the repair people to come out. The man took a look at it. He said it was made correctly, but they had drilled the hole at the wrong angle. He said he would order the part needed to fix it. He said it would be the base. I was satisfied.

Around July we received a box from Rhodes. It contained a piece of cloth. It was the same material as our couch. It was not the same color. It would not solve the problem. And even if it would, the cloth would have to be sown in. I was no longer satisfied.

We tried numerous times to contact the store and let them know this was unacceptable. No one would return our calls.in the meantime the leg of another section fell off. The foot part of the other recliner had basically no padding on it. We could feel nothing but the plywood. So all three sections were messed up. I finally had to take pictures of the sectional and take them into the store. This was around April.

When the sales people saw the pictures they agreed it was defective and should be replaced. It had been discontinued and we had to pick out new furniture. So we did. We picked out a chair, couch, ottoman, lazy boy, and a futon. We had a credit of $14, or at least that's what we were told.

Our furniture came in July. It came with the wrong ottoman We went to the store to set it straight. Our sales lady new exactly what went wrong. The ottoman we got was for a man who had received our ottoman. This should have been a simple switch, esp. Since he refused our ottoman.

She said she would get ours ordered and we'd have it in 2-3 weeks. We kept calling and talking with her through Oct. We kept hearing it was ordered. Then communication with her ended and we got nothing. Every time we called, no one would call us back.

In June I went to the store to talk to the store manager. I explained everything to him. He told me he would look into it and to call him. I did. He told me we would have to pay for the ottoman, but that he had already ordered it. I explained we had already paid for it. He said when we refused it we were refunded the money. I told him we didn't refuse and weren't refunded money. He became very rude and told me to come to the store and look at the paperwork.

I explained again everything that has happened. I explained how we have never received an apology, free delivery, a % off, or anything. And now he wants me to pay twice for the ottoman. He told me fine, he would order the ottoman, I would get it free and they would be done with me. Then he hung the phone up on me.

I received a phone call in late Aug to early Sept. 2003 from Columbus saying they had an order for an ottoman that was never ordered, should they order it. So he never ordered it. I then received a bill in Oct. For $399 for the ottoman.

I took it to the store manager. It was a new store manager. I explained everything to her. She took it off my bill and gave me a $200 coupon. I really have no desire to spend more money in that store so I gave it to my sister.

I went to the store in mid December to see if the ottoman had come in yet. I was told yes, it came in a few weeks ago. I asked why hadn't I been called. They didn't want to upset me. I have not raised my voice once. I have cried. They had not sprayed the ottoman like they were supposed to, so I had to wait for that. With the holidays, I was not able to pick it up until the last week in December.

When I got the ottoman home, it did not match at all. They had changed dye lots. I went back to the store the first weekend in Jan. The floor manager is the one who waited on me. I explained all the above. He said they could replace the chair, ottoman and couch so they all match. I'm satisfied with that. He said it would be 4-6 weeks. I went in beginning of March 04 to see where my furniture was. He told me he would call the place and call me the next day.

A week and half went by, no call.By this time, I was not surprised. I went back to the store. He was not there. I talked to someone else who assured me he would call me. No call. I called the store. He was busy, and did not return my call. I called again.

Now it's the end of March. He said they were having trouble with the dye lots. The company was calling him on Wednesday and he would call me that day too. He never called. I went there Sat. April 18th. Now he says they cannot get my furniture in the color I want and I'll have to pick new furniture again. That is not an option. I LOVE my furniture. I have never had more comfortable furniture in my life. So I have to settle for a color I do not like.

They are not going to do anything else to satisfy me. He made a big deal about me not having to pay to have it delivered to exchange the pieces. This started November it is now April. It will not be delivered until May. It remains to be seen whether this is the end of it or not.

I have been more than fair and paitent with this store. I am not unreasonable. But enough is enough.
