I paid John Altman of 169 Bayview Ave, Bayport NY 11705 $10,000 to install new kitchen cabinets in my kitchen. I have a written contract stipulating every facet of the agreement. This included the cabinets and installation.
John Altman specified the whole job would take no more then 2 or 3 days.
After several delays on his end about when delivery and installation would occur, he arrived with a portion of the cabinets and began installation. He came back to finish the job. He led me on for weeks claiming he was coming back to finish it, all along while I'm left with a non-functional, unfurnished kitchen with partially installed cabinets and various construction materials strewn about.
Eventually John Altman stopped responding to my calls, although I still saw him advertising daily on craigslist under his company name, "BelowWholesaleCabinets.com". (There is some indication that he may have recently changed the name of his business/scam due to pending legal action). I was forced to find a new contractor who upon inspecting the partial installation informed me that it was shoddy work that would have to be demolished (causing me to pay a further fee to the new (and reputable) contractor to remove the substandard work).
I urge anyone that is considering doing business with John Altman of Bayport NY, BelowWholeSaleCabinets.com, or any of his other shell companies, to seriously reconsider their actions and deal with someone reputable instead.
