Ace Industrial - Sending UNORDERED products, Nasty salesmen, and Harrassing phone calls

My husband is a contractor who has received Many calls from Ace Industrial Supply. I am not sure if they are related to Cal Pacific products or not, but their invoicing as well as their customer service people and sales people seem VERY similar. Anyway, a call came in to my husband around April 14th. (we would love to see the number, date and time, but in order to check incoming phone calls, we would have to get a court order to see who is calling us and at what time and date.) My husband declined the offer from the salesman about ordering Reciprocating Blades and getting his "free" items because at this time, we can't order anything because we are going through a bankruptcy, (apparently they do not care that people can't hold onto houses, but want to sell them cheap tools).

He thought nothing of it, since he has been declining offers like this for awhile. The only reason he actually answered the phone this time was because the call came from a 630 area code (which is the same as ours and he being a contractor with customers in the area thought this may be one). I wonder if this was a spoofed number?

So a a few days went by and on Monday April 25th we received a very large box from Ace Industrial Supply Inc. We did not open it because we did not order anything or authorize them to send us anything.

According to the packing slip, the box contains:

50 Bahco Reciprocating Blades
1 Reciprocating Saw
1 13piece "Super Premium" Magnum Drill Bit set
1 Armor Tech Air Hose - 3/8" x 25'
2 pairs of safety glasses
1 Ace Tough Touch Hand Cleaner
1 Calendar

Apparently the salesman had tried to sell the items, and since my husband declined they decided to send them anyway. Why? Probably because they figured we would buy them and not hassle with sending them back. My husband called after he got the box because we didn't know why it was sent and wanted to get info about sending it back. He placed a call at 10:10am and spoke to a female Customer Service Rep who said she would have the sales rep who "placed" the order to call him back within 48 hours. He never received a call back in that time frame.

My husband called again 11:09am Today Thursday April 28th to find out why he didn't receive a call, to speak to the sales rep and to take care of the situation. He spent almost 9 minutes talking to a customer service rep about the situation, trying to figure out why it was sent. My husband said he NEVER authorized ANY products to be sold. YES the items were offered to him by the salesman, but he DID NOT say he wanted them, or to send them, or to bill him or ANYTHING that would make a sales representative go ahead and send a large box to us. Since we just received it this week, we have not gotten an invoice yet. I am sure the bill will be hefty, and it is one that I am NOT paying. He told the Customer Service rep over and over that he wanted to speak to a manager there to get this straightened out, and was denied. He was also told that if he was not going to pay for the items he could ship them back at his own expense. I am NOT paying shipping OR paying for items I DID NOT AUTHORIZE to send in the first place. He told this to the representative and they just don't care. We most likely will not hear from the Sales representative and will go round and round with this but it will not be dropped. I am filing with the better business bureau as well as the California Attorney General's office (we do that here in Illinois) to report bad business practices. Whether or not it helps is another matter.

This company is pushy, and causes people more problems! Of course, since they sent the items without us authorizing it, we have NO PROOF ourselves, its an us VS. Them case... Of course they can say all day that we ordered it, that is what the Customer Service rep told my husband when he argued this back and forth. And there are no recordings to prove my husband told the rep no over and over. I am pretty heated that this happened, it is very unfair! Guess I will keep complaining until something is done to protect consumers from this type of abuse!
