I had Chuck Swetland of Pine Street Plumbing come over to my house on 1/11 to replace the faucet in my bathroom (I supplied all the parts). He advertises his rates as "$95 an hour", and, since I have installed faucets myself, I knew the job would take 45 minutes to an hour at most. Chuck came in the door at 1105am and finished at 1205pm. On the bill, he charged me for 1.25 hours (even though he only worked one hour) and also charged me a $75 "service fee", so the total cost for one hour of work was $217.50!!! He did the job, but WAY overcharged... I mean, other than my heart surgeon and my lawyer, there is no one in Susanville who makes $217 an hour— even prison guards (who are criticized for making "too much money") are only making $25 an hour! So, yes, he did the work, but he charged me for more than the actual time spent, had hidden fees, and was not honest about his REAL hourly rate.
