A year and a half ago I lost my job and signed up with Flagstar and their Loan modification Program (ha!) Simply send in certain paper work; W2, Entire Tax return for two years, monthly expenses, financial statement, bank statement, proof of unemployment, hardship letter and so on. To be on the safe side I sent them US Mail and also uploaded those documents. Didnt hear a word for 6 weeks. Then I got a letter asking me for the same documents. Again. I called them and couldnt get anyone to talk to so I did it again. 8 weeks later they a letter arrived explaining to me that they are backed up because they have to work on the foreclosures first (Thats not what Loan Modification is about) and they have to shread all those documents I sent in, please send them in again. Can you see the steam coming out of my nostrils. Two later they said they are having a company called Sterling Home Retention Service help them with the back log and I will get a call from them in a couple of weeks. So. A few weeks later I did get that call and, guess what, they needed all those documents again, since Flagstar will not share that information with them.) ()% (*^%#&* (&%$% Okay, two days later they have my information. 5 Weeks later I receive a letter from Flagstar stating that Sterling has go0ne out of business, and would you please send your documents back to them. Im no0t kidding. Finally, 11 months since I started this I receive a letter from Flagstar very politely telling me why they refused to help me with a loan modification. Now, all this time I have been making my monthly payment, from my savings that Inow have depleted. Flagstart goes on; I did not show a need for a modification. I did not show a decrease in income or an increase in my monthly bills I lost my job ($89th) My monthly expenses went up over $800 because of the items the company paid for in the past; My car, cell phone, internet use etc. But that was their answer, You did not show a decrease in pay etc. So, I missed a payment an Ill be darn, they never called me in the past, and 8 days after I missed my first monthly mortgage payment in my life (32 years of making payments in different houses) they called me. I was so impressed.) (*& (Now it looks like Im on my way to a foreclosure. Attorney Generals help.
