I contracted with Ryan Lombardo DBA Treejob.com to have trees cut back from around my house. The contract which sales representative Daniel Duncan and I signed on 9/6/10 stipulated that they would "leave debris between house and neighbor's house cut into 2-3ft sections".
When the work was completed on 9/7/10, I contacted Mr. Duncan regarding the debris which from what I could initially see was cut in lengths closer to 6-8ft (outside of the contracted specifications) around 7:30pm that evening. He assured me that under the top brush I would find the larger areas of the trees cut to the specified length. I left a check on the morning of 9/8/10 on Mr. Duncan's assurance.
Later that same day when it was brighter outside and I was able to inspect their work more closely, I not only discovered that the wood was not cut to size as I was previously assured, but also found that the right side fence near the gate to my backyard had been damaged by a dropped tree or log. I worked with Mr. Duncan for the next two weeks to find out when they were going to come out and complete the work per the contract by cutting all of the wood down to the contracted size and when I could expect to have the fence repaired as it is holding up other home projects with other contractors. Mr. Duncan consistently assured me that the site manager (Ashley) or owner (Ryan Lombardo) would come out and inspect the remaining work and damage and get back to me regarding resolution of these issues, but over the course of two weeks and over 35 phone calls to/from Treejob.com representatives, no one has come back out to my house to complete the work and assess the damage caused.
After getting an estimate from another tree service on the value of the unfinished work, my girlfriend and I spent two 8 hour days (a total of 32 hours between the two of us) clearing the brush away to get the logs and brush off of the yard, cutting what we needed to with a chainsaw as we went, in order to try to preserve some amount of grass on that area of the yard. The remaining logs which we did not get to that first weekend I had to finish cutting to the contracted size myself the following weekend.
I've submitted a complaint to the Better Business Bureau and not surprisingly, this vendor has a bad history there (F) which I hadn't seen before. Hopefully this saves a lot of other consumers from making the same mistake I made.
