I used Baker Bros. Solely because I could wait 60 days to pay. I was selling my house and thought that it would be one less headache. Boy, was I wrong!
I have received threatening letters that they will place a lien on my home because I didn't pay the same day. Twice, they have put a hold of $1400 on my checking account, through my debit Visa checkcard. This, in turn, ties up my money and affects other debits I may have. It could result in overdraft charges.
I was told that I was subject to credit approval. They had several days to determine credit prior to install. But they never did that. Now, the carpet and tile is in my house, and I have no choice but to pay.
I also paid an extra $80 to have them move appliances. I was told that if I did it and marred the surface, I would be responsible. If they marred the surface, they would have to fix it. It seemed like a good idea. However, they didn't bother to connect the appliance properly. So now it must be moved in and out again.
If I had known all this, I would have NEVER used Baker Bros. I could have gotten my flooring and labor and at much better price, probably about half. I only used them because of the 60 day wait for payment. But they didn't follow through with that.
