Jiffy Lube Disservice-Charging for Services Never Rendered. - headlight replacement

If i could give this a negative 100, I would. I was completely flabbergasted to say the least when Jiffy Lube blatantly tried to rip me off today.

I went in for an basic oil change this morning around 1130am. I was told my inspection was expired, actually soon to be expired. Technically, I had til the end of March. I mentioned I was headed out of the country soon and would just get it done upon my return. Wanting to be better safe than sorry, I went ahead and gave the OK to proceed with the inspection. Sammy came back in and told me my inspection was going to fail b/c my right side headlight was completely out! That's odd, I just had full use of it the night before. But, this is an older car and I thought, well, I guess that's possible but was still leery enough to have him show me. Sure enough, it appeared out. Amazing how you can make things seem when you jiggle it out of place. I went ahead an ok-ed a new light. How much is it, I asked? $25.99.

I paid for my basic oil service which is supposed to include topping off all fluids, filing up all tires and vacuuming. I also paid for the inspection and a brand new halogen headlight for 26.99 strange that's a dollar more than what was quoted. No biggie I guess.

When I got home, I checked the light. Lo and behold it wasn't working. Pit in my stomach, I knew I had been had. I called up to a blubbering Sammy who wasn't making any sense. He told me I probably went over a bump to cause my light to go out or that I had an electrical short. Even I knew better than that. My gut told me they never even replaced the part that they said was out (which it never was) and never replaced it with a brand new halogen bulb for which I paid 26.99. Annoyed and inconvenienced, I headed back to Jiffy Lube. Watched as he tweaked my old bulb to make it turn on again because clearly, it was never out in the first place if he was going to try to pawn it off as a new, working one. He again proceeded to tell me, I most likely had an electrical short and that bumps in the road caused it to go off.

Weird. I left, pulled over, and checked the bulb myself. It was in fact my old bulb!!! I don't know any brand new light bulbs out of a box that have corrosion and/or a partially broken element (new bulbs have a completely straight element) which is what caused it to turn off from him messing with it, otherwise, it was still working fine. I then had the oil checked wondering what other services I had just paid for that weren't rendered. Was my car even inspected properly? Sure enough my oil was overfilled by over 1/2 a quart and none of my fluids topped off. (I will say my front seats were vacuumed but additional air had to be put into my tires, wait, wasn't that part of my basic oil change? Apparently not. Apparently at Jiffy Lube on Holcome, they want to charge you and not do any of the work. I believe that constitutes as stealing your money.

Here's the kicker, if it could get any worse... Two hours inconvenienced now, I return to Jiffy Lube a 3rd time to confront them about my bulb. Would you believe that Sammy never even owned up to what he did. There was NO culpability. He even tried to tell me that he was trying to fix it when I came back the 2nd time. Fix what??? If you had put in the new bulb that I paid for, there would have been nothing to fix. I said I wanted my money back immediately to which he then had the nerve to tell me that without a new bulb my inspection failed!!! Are you nuts! #@! @#$#$% I never even needed a new bulb and now that I caught you with my old bulb in hand, corrosion and curvy element and all, you have the gall to tell me that my inspection is invalid? He then didn't know how to give me my money back, had to run through the motions with a manager, step by step on the phone. I ended up with 3 pieces of paper, one with a completely different customer's name and info. Did they void her invoice instead of mine? Did I ever get my money back??? I'm not sure and neither was anyone on the corporate end. Apparently, since it just happened it wasn't in the system. Do you need a system to tell you what took place today was WRONG!??

Jiffy Lube tried to take advantage of the wrong girl and let this be a lesson to them when they try to do this dishonest thing again. I don't know if they would ever pull this stunt with a man, but I think I speak for most women when I say, just because we are female doesn't mean you can pull the wool over our eyes. I'm not sure what he or Jiffy Lube had to gain by ripping me off like this. It was after all only a light bulb, probably a $6 light bulb. Was it worth it? It's a shame shady people like this ruin it for all the good, decent mechanics around town. If you ever need anything car wise and don't use your dealer, be sure to visit Eric's Car Care on Kirby. They didn't leave me with a pit in my stomach.
