I purchased approximately 5 properties from Doug Hastings in 2009. I have never been ripped off to this extent. He represented these as rental properties with existing tenants that had been paying rent on time. He created leases which I later determined to be completely fraudulent when tenants informed me they never signed any such document. I lost over $15,000 as a result. After this happened I did some additional checking and found out that Doug Hastings has a prior Federal Criminal conviction for real estate fraud. This guy is a criminal and ex-convict. He is out to take advantage of others which seems to be a commonality in Freeport. Be very careful dealing with this individual or any of his businesses. He also has a bar and an auction company and rents out many properties (as a slum lord) in Freeport Illinois.
If you do make a purchase from this person be prepared to lose every dollar and then some. He is 100% con artist - he was involved in major mortgage fraud and spent time in prison.
