Town And Country Managment
Deceptive, money-grubbing and unprofessional tricked and lied to us the business that doesnt give a dam

When my and my fiance (now my husband) moved into Charlesmont T&C we had just graduated high school. We moved in in October of 99, at which time I was the only one with and income but I made the minimum requirements for being there so we applied. Later on we were told that my husband could not be put on as an occupant but had to be on the lease as a co-renter. Fearing that they would not give us the apartment otherwise, we did just that. Because of the wear and tear of the apartment we were given the floors creaked horribly. I mean like worst than a 200 year old farm house. Because of this we were written two noise violations between October and December. We tried to go to the leasing office and explain that we were not being noisy that the floors creeked really bad, and that we were trying everything we could not to bother the people below us. We even rearranged ang got rid of furniture so that we weren't constantly walking on the real bad spots.

Well, in the month of April we recieved an eviction notice. When we went to inquire about it they told us that we were in violation of our lease because they had recieved a letter from an occupant in another building complainted that we had people not on the lease living there. I demanded to be told who this supposed person was until they showed me a copy of the letter in which I had noticed the handwriting and the signature, it was a friend that I parted on bad terms with because I found out that were using illegal drugs and were wanted by the police. I then tried to explain to the leasing office who this person was and told them that I would get any amount of notorized letters stating that no one except us were living in the apartment. They refused. So we moved out and about 2.5 - 3 months later I get a "courtesy call" from some @#$% saying that I had an outstanding balance of $2700 owed to town and country. When I asked what for, she said that she didn't have it in front of her but I was supposed to rest assured that it was an accurate calculation. So I told her, I'm not paying it till I get an itemized bill. Never happened. Flash forward to about four months ago and me and my husband are looking to buy a house. They pull our credit reports and find out that I had a judgement, by a court, on my credit. And my husband has an open account with a back balance of 2700 on his credit. Apparently by putting him on as a co-renter, that made him finacially liable for the apartment too. So as of right now they are trying to take my husband to court. If they win, we will end up both paying $2700 a piece for something that we have no idea we are paying for. Also, as far as I know, aren't you supposed to be served with papers for a court date. I never got any. If anyone knows what to do please tell me!
