A couple of years ago, my mother paid $1800 to have a new roof installed on her house. Reverend McGuire was the pastor of the now closed New Beginning MB Church on 4856 Millbranch Rd in Memphis, TN. Reverend McGuire promised to install a new roof on the house. A short time after the roof was installed, there was a leak in the kitchen. My mother contacted him to repair the leak. He patched it and said everything should be fine. The next time it rained the roof continued to leak. She contacted "Pastor McGuire" again, and he gave her the run around. He never came back to repair the roof, and my mother had to pay someone else to fix the leaking ceiling. This was a couple of years ago.
Update to 2009... Now there are additional leaks in the kitchen, and additional expenses to pay someone else to repair it. The gentleman who repaired the leak informed us that the roof and shingles were not installed correctly from the beginning. Since this time, I have learned that Reverend McGuire has a history of conning elderly people, and has served time for his previous offenses. My mother has decided not to pursue any legal action against the Reverend.
Let this serve as a warning to others not to do business with Reverend DJ McGuire. Normally you would expect a pastor to have integrity and honesty in doing business, but with Reverend MCGuire, that is not the case. He has a criminal history and a history of performing substandard work and mismanagement of finances. I have also recently learned that there is ongoing litigation in the state of Arkansas for substandard work he performed there. I encourage everyone to do research on any prospective contractor before doing business with them.
