Tradesman D.B.A. Sunland called me to discuss installing solar screens for my home. A sales rep named John V. (did not provide last name) came over on March 18 and presented the materials used in the installation, he measured the windows and provided us a quote. The deal was 50% down, and $75.00 per month from April 15 until July 15. The total bill was $621.00 with a down payment of $321.00
The company card John V. Provided us left no address to mail our next payment to. When we asked about that he said it was because they had just moved and had yet to get new cards printed. We were instructed by John V to call the office and they would provide us the mailing information.
John V. Said a crew would come out and measure all the windows again to ensure the sizing was correct and then they would install the screens in April. A voice mail was left a few weeks later (forgot the date) by a man saying he had come out to the house and accomplished the measurements. Since we were not required to be home at the time, I can not confirm that was actually accomplished.
I called Tradesman, at the number provided, several times in early April as the deadline for our first payment approached (1st payment due on April 15th). Those calls went unanswered. Messages were left on April 17 and again no response.
Every time I called the number provided I got an answering machine. I have yet to see anyone from this company come out here. They still have not contacted us about when the installation will occur.
Later on, I found the company address on the internet (under the rip off report web site and later the BBB of all places).
The "office" consists of a series of many suite style small shops. When I drove out there one day there was no one around and the address is shared by about 10 other businesses - many do not have their company names on the doors.
Buyer beware - These guys are crooks.
The BBB of Ft. Worth is now working the issue.
The next poor schmo to enter my home is going to be grilled and inspected like their life depended on it. Do not buy anything from anyone selling in your home until you can inspect their work, their offices, and be sure to look for them under the consumer complaints or the BBB.
