My nightmare began last year with palm harbor and is still going. We odered our home in Jan. 2008 and were told we had to right away even though we expressed to the dealer we were in a lease and did not want to order til later they told us we had to otherwise the loan would run out.
When we were ordering the house we were rushed and had to choose all our colors and the options in about 10 minutes then they kept pushing the date back after we had given notice to our landlords. When the house finallt arrived it had an extra color on the outside we did not want and the interior work was horrible. The carpet has seams all over in every room, there are cracks all over and those are just the beginning.
Our A/C unit has never worked in the summer my house will not get above 80 degrees and the humidity is too high which has led to mold growing under my cabinets in the bathrooms and kitchen. The a/c company that installed the unit has been out 12 times in the last 8 months and palm harbor has been out 8 times but nothing has been done to help the problem. Palm harbor cleaned the mold and replaced some of the cabinets but not the countertops, the bottoms were solid green! In the winter we mearlt froze, it actually snowed here this year but my house was 65 degrees and would not warm up more than that. I have had other companies come inspect the a/c and they said the problem is the unit is too small for my house, the house is over 3,000 sq. Ft and we have pretty high ceilings. The only was to cool and heat my home would be adding another unit and replacing all the duct work which will be very expensive they will have to rip out my ceilings to do this.
Palm Harbor knows all about my problems, I email and call them all the time but nothing has been done to help me, they say their homes are energy efficient which is a lie my bills are close $800 a month during the summer and about $500-$600 the resat of the year, and that is with me sitting in the dark with all the blinds closed and curtains shut with energy star rated appliances.
I spent over $140,000 on my home it is supposed to be top of the line but it is a piece of junk I have come to hate.
