I have owned two of the Shark Intelligent Electronic Irons model number GI495N and both had the same problem. The first one worked great for about 5 months, then it started turning itself off while ironing.
After some investigating I realized the power cord was shorting out where it connects to the iron. I exchanged it at the store where I purchased it for a new one, thinking it was an isolated problem.
Again after about 5 months the new iron began to have the same problem. This morning while ironing, the cord sparked, burst into flame and partially severed the power cord where it connects to the iron. Luckily I only have a small burn on my wrist, but it could have been much worse.
How do I contact the company to make them aware of this problem? I have seen several blogs on the internet stating similar problems with this model and other irons by the same company.
