I purchased an Aussie Vantage, Model 6805 Grill for $600. As I neared the end of assembling the grill, I discovered that the pre-assembled top of the grill was missing a threaded insert (right, front) to allow attachment of the top (bowl/hood) to the bottom (Right Side Panel).
When I called Meco the REFUSED to provide a replacement part (the hood/bowl assembly, stating that they had no proof that I did not cause the problem. I was told that I had to return the unit AT MY EXPENSE to the store where I purchased it.
This grill is the largest model the company makes, and had to be delivered by truck. This means that I will have to pay an ADDITIONAL $69 to return the grill. When I mentioned this to the customer service representatives, they said that they were not responsible.
THEY PRODUCED A DEFECTIVE PRODUCT AND REFUSED TO ASSUME RESPONSIBILITY. I do not think it is unreasonable to demand that THEY assume the costs in exchanging an item that was defective right out of the box.
Additionally, I am a Disabled Veteran (50%). Extremely heavy lifting is a problem for me, thus I have to pay to have this item moved. Stress also aggravates pain from my injuries, and this company has put my stress off the scale.
