We bought the King Koil "Elise" 'no turn mattress' along with our bedroom set.
Within a year, the mattress had dents were each of us sleep. Despite being a "no turn" mattress, we rotated the mattress in order to alleviate the the hump and dents.
When we started developing back and neck problems, we contacted King Koil to excersize the warranty, believing the mattress to be defective.
We were amazed and appalled to learn that we have to PAY $50 to have them come check the mattress for defects! This had to be paid upfront in the form of a money order (no checks). Sound pretty shady for a large company to not accept checks!
The inspector showed up, and spent about 10 minutes with a laser device and left. We later were contacted by King Koil/Dixie bedding and told that the dents were not the pre requisite 1 3/4 inch deep to qualify for warranty.
Note that the inspector showed up 3 hours after we had slept on the mattress, and did not account for the pillow top. (the mattress itself is sagging, but the pillow top is foamy and rebounds... Resulting in a dent that is only 1 1/2 inches if not compressed)
I called Dixie Bedding, and expressed that the mattress is defective, and we are absolutely not happy with it... We simply wanted the mattress replaced. We even accepted the fact that we would have to pay shipping. The response we got was that we would have to pay another $50 to have it reinspected, and if it has a 1 3/4 inh depression, it would satisfy the warranty terms.
The mattress is a complete waste of money and one of the most uncomfortable pieces of junk I have ever had the displeasure to sleep on.
It is unfathomable that I have to pay in order to have the warranty considered; the inspection process is questionable at best, and there are no other alternatives... King Koil only will consider the one authorized inspector... There is no independent testing available.
This will probably have to go to small claims court.
