Ritz Furniture Gallery Formerly Ritz Emporium
Terrible customer service. Liars. Do not shop at this store

We bought a leather chair first of January and put another one on lay-a-way at Ritz Furniture Gallery in Lynnwood, promising that we would pick the chair up by the end of February.

On 02/28/09, we went to pick up our chair that we put on lay-a-way, we were told by the Store Manager, Cathy, that the chair we put on lay-a-way was sold and that they had just put this chair on the floor 2 days ago and we could have that. After we looked the chair over, my husband noticed that the chair had a small tear/rip in the back. She wanted us to take the chair and we said no, so we requested a refund. Well she would not give us a refund and when we asked why, she would not give us a reason. We told her we would take the chair if she gave us some kind of discount, but she wouldn't even do that. We called the police. Of course, the police officer said that there was really nothing that he could do about it, but would try to reason with her. There was NO reasoning with this women. The officer asked her why no refund and she didn't even give him an answer. The store manager did tell us in front of the officer and after the officer left that she would call the warehouse in Kent and get a new chair free from any damage and have it delivered.

I called the store on Monday 03/02/09 and spoke with a lady and she told me that Cathy, the store manager works afternoons and she didn't know anything about what was going on. We told her that we were told this was going to be taken care of first thing this morning. I asked for the owners name and address so I could write a complaint. I was told they are out of the country and could not be reached... HOW CONVENIENT! Wanna bet the owner is the store manager?

On 03/02/09, Cathy called my husband and left a message on his cell phone that our recliner is in and will be available for pick up with in a day or two. My husband has not erased this message. Today we got a certified letter from Ritz Furniture Gallery, stating that our recliner is now available for pick-up. She also wrote in the letter that she called and left a voice mail on 3/2 informing us that the recliner is available for pickup, however I was not able to reach you. Please contact us at your earliest convenience to let us know when you would like to arrange for pick up.

When I called Ritz Furniture Gallery a man answered the phone stating that Cathy would call me back within a half hour because she could not come to the phone, she was busy. At 5:20pm. SUPRISE, NO CALL BACK! My husband called her about 5:20pm and now she is stating that she will get back with us on Monday. My husband said to either deliver our chair, send us a refund or we are going to take them to court. She made the comment to my husband about us not having the money to buy the chair when we first bought the other leather chair. I saw red when she said that. She was the one that pushed the lay-a-way on us. We are the type of people, if we can't pay cash for it, we don't buy it. This is just a good example as to why we pay cash for almost everything. When we asked her why did she send the certified letter, she hung up on my husband. So I called her to find out what was going on. She told me the same thing. I asked her why send us a certified letter if she has no intention of giving us our chair that we have paid for. I also asked her why didn't she call me back. She stated that she just got into work at 4:30 due to an emergency that she had to take care of. I told her the gentleman that I spoke with earlier stated that you were there, but just busy and you would call me back in about 30 minutes. (unfortunately I called her name and hung up on her, that was not nice on my part). Now, my husband is upset with me because I called her name. We are upset. They have stolen from us. We have worked hard for our money and she has just messed with the WRONG people. So as of today, we have no chair and we are out $1099.00.

We have had NO satisfaction with this company and if we do not get a refund or a chair by 03/09/09... I will be contacing all the furniture dealers that deal with Ritz Furniture and informing them, just what kind of people they are doing business with and that they should pull their furniture. Then I will file a lawsuit and contact the BBB (they already have 7 complaints with BBB).
