I do not know where to begin! From the beginning it started off bad and we should have walked away then. We purchased our house and it needed all new appliances. We decided to try HH Gregg because they were new to the area and offering some excellent deals. We purchased a double oven, over the range microwave oven / hood, dishwasher, gas cook top and a refrigerator o 1 other thing was a new king size box spring and mattress (why does an electronics store sell mattresses?). All said and done it was close to 12 k.
The first mistake was they gave us the wrong cut sheet for the double oven. We had given this to a contractor who made the appropriate cuts (accordingly to the spec sheet that was given to us at the time of the purchases) in our cabinets to fit the double oven. Well when it came the installers unloaded everything and were placing it in the space guess what? The cuts were 3 inches too long. We showed the installers the cut sheet that was given to us, and they realized that it was not the same appliance that we purchased.
Second we found out that they did not have our refrigerator and it was back ordered for the next 6 to 8 weeks. We complained to the store who said that they can substitute it for another one that they had in stock. What are we going to say, no? We have a family and going without a refrigerator was not an option (not to mention that my son's heart medication needs to be refrigerated). We had to call back the contractor who exclaimed that it is going to be very hard to fill in the piece; he suggested filling it in on the bottomed so it would not be so noticeable. So he pieced together our hard wood (forgot to mention that our cabinets are solid Cherry) cabinetry from the scrap pile (good thing that I did not throw it away). Well it looks as bad as it sounds, but we did not have a choice.
Third the over the range microwave oven was installed. So far so good, until we went to use it, it started to smoke and finally cut itself off. HH Gregg replaced it the next week. Fourth, the dishwasher leaked all over our floor. Some pump was bad and needed to be replaced. Fifth, and to us this was the most dangerous thing that they fouled up on was our gas range cook top.
For the past 4 years we kept smelling gas and we had the repair man out at least once a month (good thing we purchased a maintenance contract). He replaced all of the valves and regulator repeatedly. We even galled the gas company (Piedmont Natural Gas) several times and the put a lock on the turn off valve and deemed it unsafe. Our last call was to another repair company (who we paid for out of pocket) who looked at it and in 30 seconds told us what our problem was. He exclaimed that we needed a regulator on the gas line coming into the appliance. We were shocked and he showed me that all of the gas appliances have this regulator on it. He even showed us on out gas hot water heater and furnace. SO we had him install this regulator. Meanwhile we are fighting with HH Gregg.
The outcome of this was that HH Gregg did nothing!!!
The only thing that we did not have a problem with was our mattresses - thank goodness for a good night sleep. Perhaps HH Gregg should get out of the appliance business and just sell mattresses!!!
