On April 14th, my husband and I purchased a John Deere lawn tractor from Home Depot. It had a 2 yr. manufacturer's warranty. We also purchased an extended 4 yr. warranty for $249.99. We were told that we had a total of 6 yrs. warranty on it.
It needed a minor repair in January 2009. We called Home Depot to make sure the warranty was good and were told that it was covered until 2009. They gave us the number to call to get an appointment to have it picked up and repaired. The extended warranty representative told us that the warranty ran out in 2008. That was only 4 yrs. Although, he said that the first two years we purchased ran at the same time as the manufacturer's warranty.
Why would we pay for 4 extra yrs. to only get 2? It would be stupid to give them $125.00 for the 2 yrs. that the manufacturer already has covered. Something smells rotten to me. Beware! Don't be talked into buying extended warranties.
