I purchased a home warranty for about $400 from Nationwide Home Warranty that includes coverage of washing machines.
My washing machine broke on 9/5/08.
I reported my claim to Nationwide on 9/5/08, and paid the service company $50 on 9/8/08. The service company estimated the repair bill and we awaited authorization from Nationwide.
Nationwide refuses to process the claim because I have not provided them with maintenance records for a maintenance-free appliance. The owner's manual for the washer indicates only that the machine should be kept clean and advices against putting various chemicals into it. There are no service maintenance records to provide Nationwide because this appliance does not require such servicing. Nationwide never answers my questions and does not respond to my e-mails in a cogent manner. It appears to be fraud. Nationwide Home Warranty will simply not honor the warranty that it sold to me.
