I was recruted by Lowe's from a successfull career as a store manager with another national retailer. My motives were monetary, and although my base salary was the same I was eager to reap the benefits of a 100% bonus potential compared to 20% where I was. Bonus % was to be calculated on base salary.
To make a long story short there training program is non-existant 11 weeks of book work that is so basic that anyone with any management experience would already have this knowledge. A big hoo-rah graduation party in Mooresville and then shoved into either a new or a challenged existing store. Sink or swim! By the way if you are a minority you can bet you will be sent to a store in a neighborhood where your ethnic diversity can best be exploited by Lowe's. I went through the training with three others, two quit and myself and one other were fired before we had been in position a year. Don't leave a good job thinking that the grass will be greener at Lowe's.
