My name is Jonathan and I would like to file a formal complaint against Park Ave. Designs and WARN everyone considering doing business with this company to BEWARE!
I would like to let everyone know that I am a business owner (Financial Services) with over 200 offices that I manage nationwide and have been in the customer relations business for 24 years. No company or any one individual has never treated me with such disrespect in my lifetime. (George Gobes, Pres.) I would like to take this time to tell you the series of events and how this company TOOK MY MONEY!
My wife and I decided back in March to remodel our kitchen. We contacted Park Avenue Designs to do the job. They required 50% upfront deposit to order the supplies and cabinets. We paid them $21,000 immediately.
When the cabinets finally arrived (after numerous delays) they were the wrong color! We had ordered a darker shade of brown. George, the owner told us that this was common within the industry. I had never heard of such a thing! He never told us about this when he took our $21,000 deposit.
After much discussion, he offered us a small discount if we took the cabinets as is. After much thought we agreed to help him out. (He would have been stuck with the cabinets) We signed a new contract for the reduced amount and the work was supposed to begin.
His crew never showed up on time. They would show up sporadically and sometimes only work for a few hours and leave.
The manager ordered a $700 part for our kitchen and because of his wrong measurements it did not fit. We were told that we would get a credit for this part because it was not our fault. (They never credited us!)
On May 20, George demanded a payment ($17,000) and told us that he needed the money to continue the job. We paid him promptly. He never finished the job and we never saw him again.
There were cracked doors that needed to be replaced. Moldings that were never installed. Light fixtures that were never installed and much more.
We had an unpaid balance of approx. $2500.00 that he told us we owed him.
I told him to come and complete the work and I would gladly pay him the remaining balance. He never showed up.
Instead, I got a bill for $3,504.29. This included the part that they were supposed to credit us. I disputed the bill but they would not budge. I wanted a full breakdown of the charges but they would not give them to us. I told them that I would not pay the $3,504.29 until I saw the breakdown.
Instead of working with us, he went and filed a LEIN against our property for the amount of $3,504.29. I would have GLADLY paid him if I truly owed him that amount of money!
I still have broken cabinets, missing lighting fixtures and moldings that were not completed. I told him that I would pay him what I really" owed him once he completed the work. His answer was Pay him the full amount" and he would cover any damages under his warranty program. (Warranty is for when the job is completed and the manufacturer stands behind his/her product)
That was the most absurd thing that I have ever heard.
That is like buying a NEW car with a cracked windshield and 4 flat tires and having the dealership expect full payment. They should fix the problem FIRST! I told him that I would not pay the remaining amount until he came and completed the job.
On numerous times my wife tried to call him and he would simply HANG UP! She called his office on one occasion and he instructed his receptionist to HANG UP on her!
He told other people that we had cheated him out of money. That was just not true. Now our name is being slandered as well.
Now we are stuck with a kitchen that is not completed, cabinets that are cracked, lights that are not installed and a LEIN on our property.
Let me say that I have never filed a complaint against any person or company in my life. This individual is the worst businessman and the most arrogant individual I have ever met. He has treated us with total disrespect and has taken complete advantage of us.
I would strongly warn any individual to never do business with his company. They lied, took advantage of us, and cheated us out of our money.in my opinion, they are the most dishonest company I have ever done business with.
