Coastal Exteriors Contractors
Crew Can’t Understand English & left unsupervised at times. - roof repai

My Personal Assessment for Coastal Exteriors Contractors – Please note that when anyone agree to do business with this company make sure that THE COMPANY PURCHASE ALL SUPPLIES THAT’S NEEDED TO COMPLETE THE JOB!

I had the unfortunate occurrence of a leak into my home less than one month after my new roof replacement.in my contract (s) I requested to have the exhaust roof caps replaced, I agreed to purchase the NEW VENT CAPS for the installation thinking I was saving them time — I even took pictures of the existing vent (s) and emailed it to Coastal Exteriors for approval.

It took me about 1 WEEK before I located the replacement exhaust vent caps. And, as a precautionary measure I emailed the NEW VENT photo to Coastal Exteriors BEFORE I purchased them and I was assured that they could do the installation without any problem.

During the course of our business dealings Coastal Exteriors stated that they have installed over 5000 roofs on the eastern shore for both residential & businesses.

My position is when a customer buys NEW material to do a MAJOR ROOF replacement on a modest home the contractor / salesperson and some of his crew is the experts on the subject, I expect the ‘Head’ foreman of Coastal Exteriors should have carefully examined the NEW PARTS BEFORE they were installed. Especially, if they had prior knowledge or suspected that ANY of the vents could present a potential problem in the future such as an ‘OPEN SEAM’ which could have been observed BEFORE the installation. As an alternative of having them to come back and perform a ‘sideway water hose test’ service call to replicate driven forced rain and leaving me with ceiling damages inside my home.

The vents were installed while the 'Head foreman' was gone as he had to make several trips to pick-up additional roofing material, the job needed more shingles, they ordered 12 square and they needed 14 square. Then the 'Head foreman' had to go away again and pick-up extra drip-edge to finish this job also.

Bottom line is that there was lack of supervision when it came to the installation of the vents, the crew was left to do the manual labor DID NOT SPEAK ENGLISH VERY WELL, I was told this by the 'Head foreman' when he returned back to the job site.

The perplexing thing about this situation is my roof was replaced because of 'extreme wind damage' as the old shingles were being blown off and I NEVER had a LEAK!!! Go figure!

In retrospect, I am glad that I did not receive the additional 'Dutch Lap siding quote' that I ask the 'Head foreman' for on more than one occasion after they completed the roof job.

I had an opportunity to view their handiwork and I was not impressed!

A word to the wise — don’t go by ANY hearsay communications insist on written documentation only!!!
