In 1997 I was expecting twins, my third and fourth children. I found out I was expecting two girls later in my pregnancy. We had a problem, we lived a tiny two bedroom rental home. We were in small rush trying to have a home for our babies to go home to.
Unaware of the types of mobile homes in our area... Zones. We looked around and found a mobile home that seemed perfect for our needs. We proceeded to order one to our specifications at a dealer named Ed's Mobile Homes, a business that had been around for many years. Before signing anything we asked numerous people for advice so we would not have any problems. We got what we thought was good deal... Stupidly ofcourse.
Like clockwork our home was delivered on the afternoon of March 12 1997, later that night my twins were born 1 month prematurely.
The dealer told us to check carefully for anything that was not right. Any damages during shipping, any manufacturer defects and write them down. Then told us to call the dealership and a maintaince man would come out and repair what he could and what he could not do. A representative of Belmont would come out and make a report. And note of all repairs needed, then proceed to order what parts would be needed. Then he claimed he would return when the parts would come in, and make the necessary repairs. Well we never saw him again... Called numerous times they sent 3 more different men to do the same thing. Never saw them again either!!!
It is now 2002 and my house is nearly a dump... Not one room has the original doors. A few of them we left open. We are not rich people and cannot afford all the necessaries to make this home tolerable. Vinyl Floors that were slit when we got the home have seeped water into them starting to rot. And smell... Cabinets are falling... Too many repairs needed to name. And we went through hurricane Lili... As if the inside damage was not enough. The outside is looking pretty crappy too.
I had put a down payment of $3000, and my notes are over $300 monthly. For 15 years. 5 years down now. Still 10 to go... I am sure it will be a pile of trash before then. What do I do??? I really need help badly... From anyone. Can a lawyer help me with this. Does this qualify for lemon law? I even thought about delinquient payments on purpose so they can come and get it... Seems like my only choice. My twins are now 5 and my boys are 11 and 7... We can stay here much longer. We are good people, not even close to trailor park trash like chosen ignorant people may think. We own our own land have a small restaurant and my husband is very hard worker. And worked his way up to management in a job he has held for 11 years since he was in high school. If anyone can help please let me know... Until then. We are family of 6 living in unsafe home stuck with a very BAD DEAL!!!
