Teri J. Beattie fancies herself as a "DECORATOR" and convinces people she can remodel, decorate and/or update their home by using unlicensed, unqualified subs, although she does not specifically identify them as "unlicensed". She raved about Charles W. "Chuck" Edwards, her daughter's father-in-law, saying he did "beautiful work." Later, it turns out, he spent a lot of time at Home Depot asking how to do things.
Beattie suggested putting Edwards on my Home Depot card to charge materials, but failed to disclose Edwards, an alcoholic, had used someone's card for his tools on another occasion. Some six weeks later, after numerous requests for receipts from Edwards, Beattie got them from Edwards. Result? I learned that he had charged almost $1000 of tools on my card AND REFUSED to return them. His reason? He has too much work do do now!
Beattie failed to supervise Edwards, who when he didn't know what to do, started tearing out sheetrock on walls for no reason. He cut into the roof and compromised the structure while putting in a skylight that neither Beattie nor I had approved. He screwed up the plumbing, cut into the fire wall, ran up long distance charges on my phone bill AND was staying at my house at night while out of town. (Seems that he was drinking and was apparently trying to hide it from his family!)
When Beattie finally noticed that Edwards was making a mess of things, she brought her father (Clinton Jones of Fernley, Nevada) and Roger L. Williams (also of Fernley Nevada) down to take a look and survey the damage.in the meantime, her only response when I expressed concerns the project was going over budget was that it would cost me a lot more to have someone else do it!
Williams came in to "finish" the job, but at 66, he wasn't moving too quickly and several thousand dollars later, he was nowhere near finishing up the mess Edwards started (let alone all the items contemplated initially!) and I was out of money.in addition, his skills were not much better in many areas, than Edwards.
To add insult to injury, Beattie now denies all responsibility, claiming that all she did was 'introduce' me to Edwards, and in fact, blames him for the entire project. (Although Edwards had nothing to do with Williams!) However, she overlooks the fact that she made ALL the decisions on the project, was supposed to supervise Edwards. (When Williams came on the job he wouldn't even go to the bathroom without calling Beattie.) AND, MOST IMPORTANTLY, she accepted payment of several thousand dollars on the job!
In the meantime, Beattie continues on her merry way.in fact, she pulled Williams off my job (on two different days when I was paying him — AND for which neither reimbursed me) — to look at other jobs for her "clients"...
Bottom line: If you see this woman and her friends coming... Run like crazy... She talks a good game, but when it comes down to it... She'll bat her baby blues at you and say: "it's not my fault" and be GONE...
