This man showed up to my home numerous times to quote out the project. He even brought his son over once with him. We signed a contract for work to be performed. The work was to be completed within two weeks. After we paid him a partial payment to begin ordering supplies etc, he started to disappear. Every time we spoke, Charlie would have some new excuse as to why he had not begun. We paid Charlie $2,000 to begin work on a fireplace over a month ago, and he will not even call back.
Since we began he has, been in a car accident, in which some of our materials were damaged, his son got cancer, and etc etc. We have given Charlie ample time, and too many opportunities to finish the work. As far as we can tell he has decided to steal our money and blow us off. We'll be purusing legal action now and we'll also make sure he does no more work here in AZ.
