I have a Maytag Neptune washing machine. Early on after purchase I had many problems with the machine. Because of that I purchased the extended warranty and have done so for several years. Recently the washing machine became louder and louder during the spin cycle to the point where my whole family was complaining about it. The washer was washing clothes okay, just sounded like a jet engine. I called Maytag warranty service and they dispatched A&E Factory service. I had to wait a week or so after my initial call but that was okay, because the machine was still washing clothes. On the appointed today the technician showed up and told me that the machine had a bad bearing and that the repair was extensive and that many of the parts in the washing machine would have to be replaced because the bad bearing was connected to other parts. The parts were ordered and delivered to my home. A&E called to verify that I had the parts. I said yes and we scheduled the first available appointment. I work part-time but cancelled a morning I usually work to be home for this appointment. Late in the day the day before the appointment my appointment was cancelled. It was rescheduled 2 days later. I did not recoup the lost work as my boss told me he made other plans because I was to be out and no need to come in. Saturday rolled around and the tech called and said he had no helper. I said "so." We had an appointment and I expected my washing machine to be fixed as my appointment had already been cancelled once. He said he was coming over without his helper. He arrived and I showed him the 2 boxes of parts. He took the washing machine apart and while doing so dropped a screw in the machine. He made no effort to retrieve it. The washing machine was in several parts and my son and I were helping him as he had no "helper." We carried the large washing machine tub outside which was to have the bearing replaced. Shortly thereafter I heard the tech say "oh shit." He then informed me we didn't have all the parts and that the parts would have to be emergency ordered. He said he would call it in then which was Saturday but that the part would actually ship on the next business day Monday and arrive to my home Tuesday. Sunday A&E called me to see if I had the part. Monday they called twice to see if I had the part! Why are they calling me when the thing wasn't even supposed to ship until Monday and arrive Tuesday. Anyway, I had a tenative appointment for Tuesday afternoon. Mind you, I have no washing machine now and it did work before. It is in pieces, there are two boxes of parts and the tub is out in the garage. The technician would not put it back together when he was there on Saturday since it was going to be fixed. Tuesday rolled around and the part came. I called A&E and told them and said send the tech. They said the appointment had to be cancelled as it required 2 people. The soonest they could come will be Thursday, 2 days later. Still I have no washing machine and have been inconvenienced by the tech didn't realize he didn't have all the parts until after the thing was torn apart. I have little faith that the appointment will be kept but we will see.
