Carpet Mills Of America Extreemly bad Customer Service & Scheduling Ripoff

Carpet Mills of America will SWEET talk you into a package deal to get a lower price on the project if done individually. They will promise timely deliverly at YOUR convenience and time. What a rip off.

I did the package deal to have tile redone in my kitchen, new granite countertops and laminate in the rest of the home. They had me put 10% up front to HOLD the contract. However, there is a 35% restocking fee in the contract if called or changed within 15 days and NO cancellation, return or change after 15 days of order date. So in essence you are stuck with your choices.

I later scheduled with installation during a week of vacation time. The tile was to go in on Monday and the laminate on Wednesday. The title installation went in OK. However, on Wednesday morning, the day for the laminate installation I was told they installers would be at the location between 9:00 and 11:00.11:00 came and went. I called the scheduling office and wanted to know what the problem was. I was told the supplier received the wrong prodcuct for my laminate. The laminate would need to be re-ordered and shipped by truck from Los Angles.

Carpter Mills never called to confirm my installation times. They never checked with the supplier to be sure the materials they ordered were in a ready for installation. Carpet Mills said all orders were sent to the supplier and they were to check the order to see if it was received correclty. I have a good idea the order was never placed from the beginning.

In the mean time my home is in total dis-array in anticipation of the new flooring being installed. I could never get a firm committment from Carpet Mills as to materials delivery and installation. I placed many phone called to the sales off and scheduling office and could not get a firm answer. CARPET MILLS will NEVER give you a firm committment on deliver. If fact the contract says scheduling times are approximate if due to circumstances beyond their control.

Do no look for any discounts or compensation for lost time or inconvenience. This is also in the contract. Basically I was at the mercy of when Carpet Mills could get around to getting my materials and then finding an installation time. So if you need the project done by a certain time you can be sure it will not happen.

I had to wait until 5:00 Wednesday evening to know IF my new order would make it on the truck for deliver. Then it would not be until Friday for a new installation time. THREE days have now gone by from when installation was to take place. I called the scheduling office on Friday at 8:00 A.M. And was told they would be at my location between 9:00 and 11:00. This is their pat answer to everything. As 11:00 again came and went and no installers. I called and called and found out they had not even loaded my materials on the delivery truck. It would be another 2 hours.

By now I am calling the Districk Manager Mike Cardis, for help of which was no help. He would not return my calls or give me any updates.By 1:45 I called scheduling again was was told the installers would be to my location within 20 minuites.By 2:40 they finally arrived. I need 1,100 sq feet of laminate installed by tomorrow. If they have to work all night that is their problem.

The bottom line is Carpet Mills could care less about customer service and helping the customer. Everyting is on their time and schedule and look out if the materials do not come in. DO NOT shop at Carpet Mills unless you wants tons of stress and no flooring.
