We shopped at Saugerties Furniture Mart for furniture to replace some furniture we lost in a fire. Russel, a miserable old man, asked where else we've been shopping. When we told him he said their furniture was cheap junk even though we were looking at the same brands that he carries such as Cannondale dining sets. He told my wife he was used to dealing with people that had money and wanted quality furniture, implying that didn't have money and bought cheap crap.
When my wife asked for a price on a specific Cannondale set he argued with her about the style of table, style of the table legs and style of the chairs. He told her a partcular style of legs was discontinued for the style of table we wanted. Yet we were able to ordered it from another store.
Russel had called us and left a message but because of how busy we are with the work we're doing on our house we never got back to him. This past Tuesday my wife stopped in at Saugerties Furniture Mart because we still need a coach and love seat. She was helped by Russel's twerp son Jonathan. He started with the same nonsense about other stores carrying cheap junk and we should shop at their store if we wanted quality furniture.
When Russel learned that my wife was in the store he stormed over and yelled at her for not returning his phone call and told her that she had no money and bought cheap furniture and they don't want to deal with people like us. He told her she's wearing out his carpet and to get out of his store.
Russel is an old miserable nastey man. He was disrespectful and rude to my wife. His son is cut in his mold. I did return to his store and confronted him them about their treatment of my wife. Russel told me to "get out of my store, we don't do bussiness with people like you". If they had listened to what we wanted and didn't argue with us about the style of furniture we wanted and if he hadn't insulted us, he could have had well over $10,000 worth of business from us.
Anybody thinking about shopping for furniture in the Saugerties area, I'd recommend you try Tip Top, Lazy Boy, Beesmers, Raymour Flannagan, Ethan Allen, Stickley. We've shopped in them all and were always treated with respect.
