Contractors Choice Lighting
Delivered Defective Lamp & Did Not Resolve Ripoff

Summary:

I bought a lamp from CCL and it was defective. I tried to get it fixed, but they did not fix it. After repeated calls to CCL, they ultimately told me that I couldn't do business with them any longer, which let me to call my credit card company and file a dispute. They found in my favor and credited me the $83.ccL has since sent me to collection for $243. I have tried to get this resolved with George, but he's every bit as rude as his staff (except Mona in finance... Thanks Mona). Details below in my emails.

George will have you believe he's a great, altruistic guy, but here's his response to my email below:

You have our fixture AND our money and you filed a false claim with your
credit card company and the Massachusetts Metro West Consumer Assistance
Office. Send us a check directly and we will remove from collections

George-

I have been trying to contact you or your company to resolve an issue in which you have sent me to collection. I have contacted the Massachusetts Metro West Consumer Assistance Office, and believe you may have had a conversation with staff from that office. I have also spoken with Mona within your organization, who spoke with you, and guided her to ask me to send this email.

I have all supporting documentation to the issue at hand, but will summarize:

On August 11th, I purchased several items from Contractors Choice Lighting (CCL) across two orders. On one of the orders (invoice #41609, item #PP790), the low-voltage lamp was defective (see the attached file "CCL Broken Light.jpg"). At the time, CCL's return/repair policy was to fax in the proof of purchase with the order number in order to receive an RMA, which I sent 2 faxes and followed up with phone calls.

I called several times over the course of a few weeks. Each time I spoke with someone (and it was always someone different), they assured me the part would be sent out to me. The third time I called, I asked if CCL was really going to send out the part, because the previous two times someone said they'd send it out, yet no one did. My response was exactly, "It's a fifty cent part - do you want it or not?" in a very rude manner. To which I responded that the last two times this was promised but not delivered. The response I got was literally "go f*ck yourself", and that I was "no longer able to do business with CCL" again, and was promptly hung up on.

At this point I had a non-working product and no other recourse other than to dispute the charge with the credit card company. The credit card company credited my account. At this point I believe your organization sent me to collection the first time. I disputed it and it was dropped, with no record on my credit history. I was subsequently sent to collection on 9 (date assigned 3) for $264 with a date of first delinquency of 1. Note that this issue began on August 11th. This time it has been recorded on my credit history and has affected my credit rating.
