I hired ALL ABOUT FENCES of Hiram, Ga on March 14 to build a fence on my property. After 7 days, I contacted the owner John Wesley Clackum to inquire about when he will start my fence and when it will be complete. He would not give an estimated start or completion date, and said he was short handed at the moment and needed to find some "Mexicans" to help him.
On the 24th of March, I was contacted by Mr. Clackum to see if I would give him money to buy supplies with, so I issued him payment of $1700.00. After about a week, I contacted him again to see if he had bought the supplies, which he had not, and to ask when he would start. I was told that he was still short handed and he would be out this week. After he did not show up to begin that week, i called and left several messages (he never answers his phone or returns calls) asking him to please call and tell me when he would begin my fence.
This went back and forth for several weeks and finally he brought out some tools and said he would be by to start in the morning. Several days later, he showed up and began to dig post holes. He stated he would come and set the posts tomorrow. He did not show up for several more days and gave some other excuse. He finally came out and set the posts after I threatened to fire him, to which he replied that i need to read my contract.
Once the posts were set, which was nearly 2 months after I hired All About Fences, he stopped returning calls and just would not answer. Finally after a couple of weeks, I left a message that said " You are fired if the fence is not completed by Friday". He responded that if I would let him finish, he would have it done by Saturday of that week. This was at the end of May that he stated in a text message "If I am not finished by Saturday, I will take $800.00 off of the remaining balance". I agreed to this and told him that is the only way I will allow him to finish the project.
Saturday passed and he did not complete, which to me meant that he was taking $800.00 off of the remaining balance. I had to call and threaten to take legal action in order to have him complete my fence. He is now finished and trying to get me to pay the full amount. He is also threatening to place a Lien on my property if I do not.
For a project that I was told would take 4 days at the most, it took him Over 3 months, and he lied to get me to not fire him. I am not going to pay the $800.00 he promised to discount from the price, so he is trying to take me to court.
Also, he has his business as an incorporation, this is a blatent lie!
