In October we visited American Prides Models and started the process of building our dream home in South West Florida. We selected a model and, on December 15, we gave them over $40,000 to get our home started. Well, the stories started changing almost immediately! First they would not take any calls or emails, when I finally contacted the owner, Sal Allen, I was hopeful that things would get moving and I would get some answers. No such luck, he is just as bad as his nephew, the salesman.

Obligated to apply for a permit in 30 days and start work in 90, as of 05-22-06 he has not done ANYTHING!
To make matters worse Mr. Allen has informed me that he has no intention of starting my house until I give him the difference between the price I paid at contract time and his current price, OVER $20,000! We do not have that kind of cash just sitting around even if I was inclinded to give it to him!!!
AND, it's not over, he also intends to charge me the current price for permits and site work! He had access to my lot prior to our contract date, he knows what everything costs up front, but likes to rip people off.
