I requested this company to come out and assist in correcting the flushing action of a low boy toilet. A neighbor of mine who is knowledgable about plumbing came over to assist him. After about two hours of adjusting the toilet the plumber felt that all was well.
The next day my wife felt that the toilet still was not flushing properly.
I thought that it would be ok but after a couple of more days my wife felt that it was getting worse not better. Therefore I called a plumber to come in and fix the problem. After spending over two hours at my house before I felt bad about calling my neighbor to complain about his work (that did not cost me anything but time to start with).
The plumber was from Day & Night Plumbing (Doug -). He adjusted the toilet and told me that it was now okay. I checked it and it seemed to be flushing okay. Upon leaving he also told me that the toilets still were not flushing properly and that they needed to be acid washed to clean out the filling holes under the lip of the toilet bowl. I was told that this was a recurring problem with toilets and that the calcium build up could be a large problem. I was also told to expect the bill for this to amount to about 75-100 since the cost of the acid was quite expensive. I approved this work and the workman was to come out the next day and complete his work.
The next day Doug came back to my house to complete the work. He came in and said he would empty the toilets and clean them and all would be okay.
Upon Doug's departure he presented a bill to me. I thought the labor charge was to be $48/hour but instead I was charged $78/hr! In addition there were labor charges for both days to come out to the job site. These amounted to $195 (at the original rate). The total bill was $238.48 which I objected to. After some negotiation a new labor rate was agreed to and the bill was adjusted to $185.16 which I wrote a check for an paid on the spot.
After leaving I found that the main toilet whereby I was having a problem was still a problem. It ran constantly and would not shut off. I immediatley called their office and was told that Doug would be right back to fix the problem. Doug came back and did so, stating that a sponge left over in the toilet bowl tank as being the problem! Guess from now on I need to check on the workmen to be sure they don't leave sponges in the toilets when they leave.
Thinking the problem solved I went about my business. That evening the man who witnessed the original damage came over to the house and we got to discussing the toilet problem. He wanted to see for himself the problem so we went back to the bedroom where the problem existed.
Review of this situation showed that the same problems still existed and that in fact nothing had been accomplished to remedy the water leaks. I then called Day and Night Plumbing who offered to come back out to work on the problem. Being super mad I said to forget it and just cancel the check. Since nothing had been fixed I shouldn't owe any money,
Nothing was really resolved then and I put the situation in the back of my mind. However I did decide to stop payment on the check that I had issued and called the banks Central Office to get it done.investigation by them proved that the check had already been cashed! Probably immediately after leaving my home.
Since nothing has been fixed I want to get my money back. I have talked to two plumbing houses and neither of them have heard of having to acid wash toilets to clean out the lines to get them to flush better. I was scamed and still have to get the toilet repaired!
At this time I want to be reimbursed for the monies I spent ($185.16) plus a fair amount for the time and aggrevation it has caused me and my entire family. I feel an additional $200.00 would be appropriate and fair.
