Oreck Vaccum Shop
Very poor customer service, wrongfully accused, misjudged Ripoff

I am reporting Oreck due to the fact that they had a reject running the store on Saturday, February 11th. My mother had gone in the night before and bought a 2-speed upright Oreck vaccum at an estimate of almost $600.00. We brought it home and tested the product and was impressed but not impressed enough to keep it. I felt that my mom could get the same quality with a cheaper vaccum, I could be wrong but thats how she even felt after trying it. We just felt that it wasn't all that they made it out to be on the commercials. Mind you I have been interested in buying one myself. My mother decided to take it back the next day.

That Saturday we loaded it up, my mom went to get the canister and the iron to take back also. I TOLD HER that she gets that for free because she took the challenge. Mind you I was looking to buy one so I payed attention to the infomercials. I admit that I was in the wrong for thinking that she got the cannister for free but the iron she was still entitled to. We got to the store and brought the vaccum in with the bags and gave the lady behind the counter the receipt and told her that my mom wanted a refund. She asked where the rest of the stuff was and she had to tell us what the stuff. Stated that I thought you got that for free for trying the Oreck. Thats when she popped off and insulted us and said is that why you bought the vaccum. Before I could pick my jaw off the floor my husband stuck up for my mom. He did not yell, or use one swear word he was trying to talk to her to let her know that was uncalled for. She jumped down his throat and accused him of threatening her and told him to leave the store or she would call the cops. He tried to defend himself and thats hen she stated she was calling the cops. My husband left the store. With seeing this, I did not want to deal with her and neither did my mother. We followed with the vaccum and the bags. We left the premises, got about 1/4 of a mile up the road and realized that we left the receipt we went back due to the fact that nowadays you can't do a return without a receipt. My mother and I went back into the store, she claimed she didn't have it, we looked everywhere to make sure that we didn't have it and look like a fool. We finally called the cops because we felt that she was going to get stuck with this purchase. Well three hours later, they finally show and got our side of the story and then went and talked to the manager, which by the way I asked for a manager and was told that she was out of town. Supposedly we were dealing with the assistant manager Melissa. He came out with a copy of the receipt and told us that she would not press charges but we could not go back to the store or we would get it for trespassing. All I could say was like we would want to come back. I'm upset at the fact that we had to call an officer out to get something done, why couldn't she of offered a copy of an receipt regardless if we had it or not. Honestly I'm upset that she had the opportunity to press charges when we did't do nothing wrong. If a person behind the counter calls the cops because of a customer trying to stick up for themselves and then can press charges something is definitly wrong. What are we to do as a paying customer, file a complaint and then be on our way. I don't think it should work that way.

Something needs to be done, what happened that day was completly uncalled for. Just to let you know we did return it to another store and the salsesman said there should of been no promblem because my mom was entitled to the free iron for taking the challenge. No matter how long she owned that vaccum, as long as it was in the thirty days of trial.
