I moved to Texas from the Midwest. One month in the house I was renting I received a teller marketing call from ADT. I told them I wasn't interested but the sales guy was persistent. He called everyday for 2 weeks. I finally decided, because of my children, to get the secutiry system. I was told that for signing up I could get my first month free.
Well needless to say I received my bill, the first month was NOT FREE and the customer service people on the other end of the 800 number knew nothing about it. I called the salesman, who sold me the package and left him several messages, I never got a return phone call. It's been 3 months since the installation, but I've moved.
I just called to deactivate the service and I was told that in order to deactivate the service I would STILL be responsible for paying 75% of the contractual price for the next 3 years. Have they lost their minds. The rep stated that it was explained to me at installation. I said that it was not explained to me. I would never have signed such an adhesive contract. I'm suppose to pay for monitoring service that I'm not even getting.
ADT IS A RIPOFF! Stay away! I'm going to fight this one to the letter. I don't mind paying for service I actually received, but I'm not paying for future service I have no intention of receiving.
