I hired a propane company to fill my propane tank. I asked them if the could hook up the stove/oven to work on LP gas instead of natural gas. They said it would be fine that they could do it. I asked them how much they would charge and they told me if we purchased the gas from them it would be free.
The came to fill my tank but a value was bad (or at least that is what they said) We were charged $85. Oo for the value plus $18.70 for the gas that was leaking. I had to pay $346.75 for the gas after the new value was installed. And then he left.
They came again 2 days later after we purchased the $85.00 value from them and filled the tank. The man named Johnny came in with an attitude and told my husband and myself that he had no tools as his tools were stolen. So my husband went up to his shop and got all the tools the man needed. (Johnny)
He than told us that we needed a conversion kit to convert my natural gas stove to LP gas and that he had to go to Raliegh to get it. (Raliegh being lest than 45 mins.) He left and 4 hours later returned with these so called jets that also cost us $85.00 dollars. He worked on the stove/oven with my husbands help and tools for about 3 hours total. I was still unhappy as the burners and the oven tempertures were still not right.
He said he would return the next day. I never saw him again.
After several atempts of calling him (Johnny) and him saying he would be out that day. (never showed up/never came by) I called him weekly to complain that the job was not complete. As no matter what tempture you set the oven at it went to 500 degrees. I however still got a bill every month. After weeks of begging them to finish the job, which they never did complete. I called another service man.
The other service man told us that he broke my stove/oven and that he could not understand what he had done to the stove/oven and why. That he indeed broke my stove. Now it is going to cost me $190.00 to replace the oven controls. Not only that but he (Johnny) charged me for 6 gas jets that only cost 25 cents each. Now that is a far cry from his famous $85.00 that he charges for everything.
Well today I called the Store and after several trys got his wife. I told her that I was going to write the BBB and Federal Trade Commission and Consumers Fraud if they did not return my money.
Well with in hours he (Johnny) was at my door walked right in like he owned the place and was getting ready to fix my stove with his very own tools. I than asked him for his license number to which he had none. He (Johnny) has no license for doing the work that he does. If that is what you wish to call what he does.
D&H Propane took me for over $600.00... Most of the gas that I payed for$346.75 leaked out because the oven settings were so far off.
According to the other man that I hired he should have put in 2 values and never ever should he have touched the oven control value.
So now I am into the new tech man for about $400.00.
I have begged and pleaded with D&H Propane to make this right. They just ignore my calls.
What can I do to make them make this right. I surly do not want anyone else riped off as this just is not right.
