We were excited to be purchasing a new home. After shopping at all the manufactured home lots on East Texas St.in Bossier, we settled with Greg Tilley's.
We chose our manufactured home and put a down payment of $2500. We signed no contract. We had written verification of what we wanted and a receipt. We were in the process of waiting for our land deal to close so that we could get a land-home package.
Well, our contract date came and went and we were still waiting to close on the land & home. Tilley's started to call and became impatient with us (it was now 5 days pass the original contract date).
It wasn't our credit, it was the lawyer who forgot some paperwork and then the loan agency didn't let the lawyer know what the date was for closing, then the sellers (tilley's & land owner) couldn't get some other paperwork straight. Anyway, they couldn't get it together.
In the meantime, a brick house with exactly what we were looking for came up for sale in the price range of the manufactured house and land. We decided we would get the brick house instead (since the problem was the paperwork for the land AND home package).
We informed Tilley's and they were upset. We figured we may have to pay a lot fee (the trailer was held for us for 6 weeks) - and we were fine with that.
WELL - the lot fee for one trailer for one month was $1000! Now, common sense tells you that they DO NOT pay $1000 per trailer per month as lot fee. We figured we would only lose about $300.
So we challenged the entire amount because there was no contract signed by us NOR were we told this would happen.in fact, we specifically asked about our money in the event something happened and we could not get the home. We were assured we would get every cent back.
We have tried to call and speak directly with Greg or even Joe Tilley. Neither one has EVER called us back and we have been told that they are on vacation.
This happened in September - it is now January. I would never do business with them nor will I recommend anyone to them.
They lied to us and kept our money and were very rude when we did not buy the home. It was out of our hands about the contract situation - our money was good. We now have a brick house!
