Arizona Fans and Blinds rip-off! Poor customer service, dangerous installment practices

On July 3, I purchased a fan from Arizona Fan Company with my debit card for $107.67. It was scheduled to be installed in the morning of July 15. I was leaving for Colorado that day driving. I waited until 2:00 and the installer still had not showed up. I made two phone calls to the store that day. I told them at 2, I could not wait any longer and left on my trip.

With school starting Aug. 6, I didn't have time to reschedule it until Sept. 26. I was to be the first installation at 8:30. At 9 I called. The man I talked with said he didn't know what happened. He called me back within 10 minutes and said he had called the installer twice and that he didn't answer his phone. I told him that I had to leave but my son would be here and gave him my son's cell phone number. I asked him to have the installer call when he has on his way. My son, who works swing shift, came upstairs to sleep on the couch so he could hear the doorbell. The phone nor the doorbell rang. I called the store back at 11:20 and told them I had to leave and could not wait any longer.

I was told by the store this A.M. That the installer had been here but I wasn't here. He did not leave a card so I don't believe he was here. So far I have waited a total of 9 hours and 20 minutes for the installer.

I called the store this morning and asked for a refund. I was told that they only give store credit, not refunds. What good would this do me? I have no more places in my entire house that don't have ceiling fans and they won't install it anyway. They insisted on making another appointment for next Saturday, October 9. The appointment is for 9 A.M. I told him I would believe it when I saw it. I informed him that if they did not come this time I was going to the TV station. He assured me the installer would be here.

At 8:30 on October 9, two installers showed up. Since I was expecting them at 9, I wasn't dressed. I showed them in and to the basement where the fan was to be installed. I went into the bathroom and dressed quickly. As I was ready to come out of the bathroom (less than 7 minutes), they yelled that they were finished and were leaving. I asked if they needed a signature and they said, No.

I went straight to the basement to try the fan. It was a full half inch from the ceiling on one side and a little closer to the ceiling on the other. I called the store immediately, hoping to be able to intercept them so they could return and correct the situation. They did not return my phone call.

The next morning my son was awakened by a terrible noise. He quickly turned off the fan. It is out of balance or something. He called the company. They did not return his phone call. I called one more time and they also did not return my call. I now have to hire an electrician to install the fan properly, because I do not want them in my house again. If my son had not been there to hear the noise, my house could have burned down. I am shocked at such incompetence by a FAN company that cannot properly install a fan with an existing electrical connection.
