We trusted thisengineering firm with the engineering of the foundation for our home. They soldus the "industry changing" & "revolutionary" engineeredfoundation called SlabTek. This is touted as the foundation of the future as itis adjustable.
Tony Childress, the lead engineer and owner runs his firm with theslogan of "Serve the person, solve the problem". However we'velearned firsthand their actual philosophy is "Serve mammon, & its definitelynot our problem".
Childress fancy new foundation design is sold as "SlabTek". He not only makes aliving by selling his engineering services through his separate company CESGlobal or Childress Engineering Services but also by selling his clients hisnew design. He has patented the design which requires the purchase of speciallifts. The lifts are sold separately. Of course no matter what engineeringneeds you may have, it is to Childress' benefit to sell you the SlabTek design, since he profits twice, off of the engineering AND the lifts. The company claims this design is perfect for expansive soils ofall sorts and that it is not dependant on the moisture content of soils norgeological data. However, when our home started moving and causing damagesChildress Engineering pointed their fingers at soil reports and moisture. Allhave been proven empty excuses. However, 3 years later our home still hasntstopped moving. Plumbing pipes are popping out of the floor all over, brick androck and drywall damages are everywhere, drawers wont stay closed, inside doorswill not shut and our front door cannot be opened any longer, even after 3adjustments. Safety in our home is now becoming questionable butstill this engineer will not put his money where his mouth is and fix ourfailing SlabTek foundation nor make it right in anyway.
Our home is literally getting ripped apart and ChildressEngineering won't back up their claims nor their engineering designs. We beggedand pleaded for almost 2 years for help from them and they continually madeexcuses and pointed their fingers at others to dismiss their design flaws. Anindependent engineering report stated that the foundation has failed to do asit should have and another is pending. However, this engineer is getting offwithout any consequences due to legal loopholes and no professionalaccountability.
We are just one family, working hard to make it. After saving foryears we thought we were building a home to live in and enjoy for many years tocome. If it hadnt been for this engineering firm being recommended to us andtheir slick and unethical sales tactics we might have been able to do that.
Buyers beware... As homeowners there is nothing that protects youby law from problems such as this. Home insurance will not cover foundationissues, the builder was not at fault and the engineer won't back up his work!
