I went to Monro Muffler and Brake, 2139 Hempstead Turnpike, East Meadow, NY to get my car inspected. The Store Manager Jesusito Cortez was very rude to begin with. He handed over my vehicle to his disgruntled tehcnician J. Young, who proceed to remove all the tires, examine under the hood and every part in the car imaginable. To my surprise, the Service Tech. Began a thorough inspection especially around the brakes and shock absorbers looking for defects - He even went on to bang all tires with a hammer before he took off the tires probably to see if there was potential for damage. I asked the Manager J. Cortez what was his technician upto and what was he doing looking with a little flash light behind the wheel covers and using a hammer to bang on the tires while still attached to the housing, cause I did not come for a complete overhaul or crash test, but for a Road Inspection fitness test, which I was confident my car could easily pass. However he removed his licence from his pockets and kept showing me his card and claiming himself to be a reputable and honest Inspector and went on to blame other Auto Shops, who don't do it the right way. Later after an hour and half, I was issued an overall FAILED report showing EMISSIONS PASSED but SAFETY FAILED - citing Brake servicing, Tires and Wheel Fasteners, Steering, Suspension and Chassis frame as a reason for Failure, when the car has never been driven long since the last inspection and had never been in an accident. They figured they could rip me off with the repairs, while failing the inspection. On top of that, they were rude, arrogant and seemed to care a damn what the customer experienced at that point. Honestly speaking, I never saw the technician connect a hose to the vehicles emissions (exhaust pipe) and yet they passed it which is quite surprising. I assumed that They would atleast let me know that I could fail inspection unless I repaired the priority items, to which I would have agreed. However they feel that failing the inspection would be a better reason to rip the customer since the data has been entered into the DMV system. They also removed the old sticker, so that way if the car is caught parked on the streets, would easily be a prey for tickets. I would keep away and Warn others from my bitter experience to avoid this Store at any cost. Pass them by if you have to unless you want to get ripped off. They are nothing but money hungry rip-off artists waiting to swallow every customer entering into their facility. On top of it all, the unlicenced technician J. Young kept explaining to me that it would be safe to keep the vehicle off the road to prevent any unforeseen incidents cause my children was with me, to which I responded to him to mind his own business. J. Young had the audacity to tell me that he would contact CPS (Child protective services) cause I was endangering the lives of my kids. Can you believe this, I go to them for an inspection and they are like throwing charges like law enforcement. Is it now a crime to go for a car inspection, knowing less likely your vehicle will fail, when accompanied by your children. Anyways, the next day I went to another Inspection station, and got my car passed after performing the list of repairs for a reasonable price, and within two hours. It wasn't that bad as it sounded.

It is no surprise why they have over 855 complaints lodged with BBB for this business.
