We have had Magic Jack for 1 year and 11 months. I feel this definitely makes us qualified to give an accurate review. All they care about is selling and getting their money; forget the product which is just not reliable. Forget about making contact with them via Live Chat, phone or email because it does not happen... Unless you just bought the product. I have been trying to chat with them for 45 minutes at this time; I keep getting a message that all operators are currently assisting others. *UPDATE; finally got someone after waiting 54 minutes*
When we renewed last year, it was with much reluctance but wanted to see if things got better since we moved to a new home. About 5 months after we renewed, we got a bill for $3.14 without an explanation other than "Your 2008 Product of the Year - magic jack is on its way to you1" I replied that we did not order anything so no need to bill us. They replied that this is confirmation email for the Custom number annual fee. I asked why didn't they bill us when we renewed in Feb. They stated they were late charging for this renewal but going forward, would charge on the anniversary date of your order. I replied stating that since it was so late that we did not need the custom number. They replied with instructions on how to disable our magic jack auto renew then charged us. I replied that this does not answer my concern that we did not need the custom number since they were late in billing us; no further response from them. I have these emails to prove this.
Either way, it is not worth the money as our calls kept sounding like we were on a cell phone in the middle of nowhere; it was NOT our internet connection as we did not have issues with it. People could not hear us or we could not hear them; we had to keep rebooting MagicJack. Service is lousy! And, I have given consideration to the low price for this service... Still NOT worth what you pay.
