MagicJack
Easy enough to install, voice quality good, like the ability to use a conventional phone handset. I discovered early on that numerous US phone numbers I call would not go through. I get the “fast busy” signal when they are called. So 6 weeks ago I figured out how to get on a “live chat” with one of MagicJack’s agents. After explaining the problem including giving them several of the phone numbers that don’t work the agent upgraded me to one of their top 10% agents and after about another 20 minutes this agent told me that the problem would have to be sent to one of their engineers to be fixed. I asked how long it would take and was told “probably 3 or 4 days. They told me they would email me when it was fixed. Well, weeks later the problem still wasn’t fixed so I repeated all of the above and had an identical experience except that this top 10% agent told me that they were working on it. OK, it’s now three weeks after the second “live chat” and I just had another identical experience except when I asked the agent if they could have someone contact me in person via phone the agent stated “I have told all you need to know” He, Eric, then disconnected the chat.
The numbers that I can’t call and it is a bunch of numbers, are able to call me, on my MagicJack number. I also have Skype and I can call all of the numbers that I can’t reach via MagicJack. RECOMMENDATION: If you are going to try MagicJack, the minute you get the adapter get it set up and working. Then call everybody you know from it to see if your important numbers can be called from MJ. I have already paid the price for MJ for a year but don’t expect to renew and will not spend any more time on “live chat” with MJ.By the way you can reach a real person by phone with Skype. It’s more expensive than MJ but the frustration level is a 0 with Skype and an 8 with MJ.
