AVG software inc mislead me about the cost of technical support for my Home product. They overcharged me. They lead me to believe the support call was $1.29, but in fact it was $129.99. Last week about 11/11 I called AVG for support with my firewall product. I spoke to customer service to see if anyone could help. The customer service representative on the phone told me that technical support is not free and will charge. I asked how much, the representative 129. I assumed she meant $ 1.29 (One dollar and twenty nine cents) for the one time incendent. I checked my bank statement and was charged $129.99 (One Hundred and Twenty Nine dollars and ninety nine cents). Why is AVG charging me this much of a fee. I had ONLY one question to ask, in regards to a credit to my account. The question pertained to how to get my firewall to allow a windows shared connection between my primary and secondary computer. That was it. But their firewall is not configured to allow this automatically, that’s why I called them for help. I have had this product for over two years and never need to ask any more questions about the product. I don’t mind paying for a support fee for my ONE time incident, for a fair amount (i. E $8.00 or $10.00) When calling them about this mis-understanding, the technical support supervisor was rude and wouldn’t give me any help in to some sort of refund or semi-refund (i. E I pay $10.00 for my one time call and they refund me $119.99.) AVG Customer service needs be more clear in stating that one time call support is (ONE HUNDRED & TWENTY NINE DOLLARS) and not “129”. I was one of those people that thought my one time incident was $1.29.in addition, their product is advertised for $54.99 for 1 year. Why would I want to spend more than double for technical support. If customer server stated the full verbal amount of (ONE HUNDRED AND TWENTY NINE DOLLARS AND TWENTY NINE CENTS), I would have simply said “No Thanks” have a nice day. I'm out of $129.99 from my checking account. I need that money to live off of. I wouldn't have minded a $1.29 transaction which doesn't really affect my checking account.
