Contacts Deleted When Switching From Android to iPhone 5

My Android phone died. I upgraded to an iPhone 5. They are incompatible. When you switch over all of your saved contacts are deleted from My Backup - They don't tell you you're going to lose all your contacts.

Why the hell didn't they download them? Or let me download them? Or tell me I could download them onto my PC - BEFORE setting up my new iPhone!!!

I can't even enter them manually you domshizs!
